What all does Scottie Scheffler get for winning the 2024 Olympics?

Scottie Scheffler added yet another bullet point to his resume for Player of the Year on Sunday, winning the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic men’s golf competition at Le Golf National in Paris.

Scheffler shot 9-under 62 on Sunday, tying a course record, to finish at 19 under and beat Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood by a shot.

While Fleetwood took home the silver, Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama earned the bronze medal, three years after he lost in a playoff for bronze in Tokyo.

So, what does Scheffler get for winning at the Olympics?

Although there is no official prize money, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee pays its winning athletes $37,500 for gold medals. He will also receive roughly 50 points in the Official World Golf Ranking, further strengthening his grip on the top spot in the world. He also was rewarded a long, slender box, which goes to all the medal winners in 2024. The box contains a commemorative poster.

Also up for grabs this week were exemptions into all major championships during the 2025 season, an exemption into the 2025 Players Championship and the 2025 Sentry. however, Scheffler already had earned his way into all of these events because of his play this season.

He won the Masters for the second time in April, which means a five-year exemption to the other three majors on top of his lifetime exemption at Augusta National. He also became the first player ever to win the Players in consecutive years. And thanks to his wins, he had punched his ticket into the season-opening Sentry.

So, while winning at Le Golf National could have been a life-changing moment for many players in Paris, it was just another day in the office for Scheffler, who gives the U.S. a second straight gold.
