Tommy Fleetwood makes a special request to fans ahead of the final day of Olympic golf

Going into the final round of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday, August 4, Tommy Fleetwood will tee off just one stroke behind the third-round leaders. He is one of the top contenders for the gold medal.
Fleetwood was in the lead after the second round but shot a 69 in the third round, dropping two positions to take the third spot on the leaderboard. Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele are tied for the lead at 14-under.
Ahead of the final round, Fleetwood, representing Great Britain, made a special request to his fans. He expressed his gratitude for the support he’s received so far and asked them to “be loud” in the final. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Fleetwood wrote:

Notably, if Tommy Fleetwood wins gold on Sunday, he will be the second golfer from Great Britain to do so. In 2016, Justin Rose won gold for Great Britain. The country has three medals in Olympic golf in men’s events, including one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Walter Rutherford won silver at the 1900 Paris Olympics, while David Robertson won bronze at the same event.

Tommy Fleetwood had a smooth start at the Paris Olympics, shooting 67 in the opening round, followed by a second-round score of 64. He impressed in the second round with an eagle, six birdies, and just one bogey to take the lead.
However, in the third round, Fleetwood made only three birdies and had a bogey on the par-4 12th hole, finishing with a score of 2-under 69. With a total of 13-under, Fleetwood secured a solo third place after the third round. The finale will take place on Sunday, August 4.
