Rory McIlroy joins one of the biggest online golf schools, announcing big new sponsorship deal
Rory McIlroy has joined hands with Operation 36 and Golf Pass for an innovative venture.
They are planning a development program to offer personalized training to budding golfers.
The Golf Pass is a membership forum that releases exclusive golf content including instructional videos and has recently collaborated with the Irishman, along with the golf program, Operation 36 which helps promising golfers improve their game.
The news of the collaboration was shared by Golf Pass on Instagram and McIlroy, Operation 36, and a few other pages were tagged, including Lauren Thompson, the NBC Sports host, who is also a part of the endeavor.
“Whether it’s your first swing or you’re a seasoned player, Operation 36’s personalized plan helps you improve one level at a time. Check out ‘Rory x Operation 36′ now on GolfPass,” it said.
Rory McIlroy will tee off at the BMW Championship tomorrow as the fifth-ranked member of the field comprising the top 50 golfers on the FedEx standings.
How was Rory McIlroy’s year on the PGA Tour?
Rory McIlroy started the year with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where he finished 66th. His score was 2 under 214. Following that, he played at the Genesis Invitational where he finished T24 with a score of 5-under 279. His next event was the Cognizant Classic where he landed at T21 with 67, 67, 72, and 68 over the four rounds.
Following that, McIlroy played at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill where he finished T21 with 1-under 287. His next appearance was at the Players Championship, and he stood at T19. Next, he participated in the Valero Texas Open and finished at T3 with an 11-under 277. He played at the Masters Tournament and the RBC Heritage to finish at T22 and T33 with 4-over 292 and 7-under 277, respectively.
McIlroy triumphed at the Wells Fargo Championship with 67, 68, 67 and 65. At the PGA Championship, he stood at T12 with a 12-under 272. Then, he participated at the RBC Canadian Open, where he finished at T4 with 66, 72, 65, and 64 over the four rounds. He also played at the Memorial Tournament to finish at T15 with a 2-over 290. He then played at the US Open to land in second place, followed by a T4 at the Scottish Open.
At the final Major, The Open Championship, Rory McIlroy missed the cutline, his only such finish this year. He finished in T5 at the Olympics. At the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first event of the FedEx Cup triad of playoff tournaments and after which the top 50 golfers as per the rankings qualify for the BMW Championship, he landed at T68 with a 9-over 289.
