Jordan Spieth is currently competing in the 2024 John Deere Classic. The second round of the tournament concluded on Friday, July 5 at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Spieth has a tremendous record in the John Deere Classic. He won his maiden PGA Tour event in 2013 in playoffs against David Hearn and Zach Johnson. The former World No. 1 won the tournament for the second time in 2015. He won over Tom Gillis with a par on the second extra hole in another playoff.
Jordan Spieth has returned to the tournament after nine years. Tournament director Andrew Lehman has said that Spieth’s arrival has created a buzz and led to an increase in ticket sales. However, after the end of the second round, Spieth is at T47 with an aggregate score of 6-under 136. After the end of the round, Spieth said (via Ten Golf):

“Yeah, I mean, there is only stuff to gain at this point tomorrow, so I’ll be attacking. Today I got to a place where I felt like I could start attacking by getting some birdies early, and then I just messed up 11 and 12. All of a sudden I was behind the cut line.” (1:25-1:43)
Spieth scored 4-under 67 in the second round and made the cutline by one shot at the 2024 John Deere Classic. He scored four birdies on 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 9th hole on the front nine. On the back nine, he scored two bogeys on the 11th and 12th and notched two birdies on the 14th and 17th holes.
Jordan Spieth seemed optimistic about his chances at the TPC Deere Run for the weekend. He said (via Ten Golf):
“I’ll try and shoot 14-under on the weekend and post a good finish. I don’t think it’ll be good enough. I’m not going to try and shoot 20-under because you got in some trouble. Take chances when they come and be aggressive on the greens.” (2:31-2:50)
CT Pan and Aaron Rai are tied at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 14-under 128 after 38 holes.
