Daly once shared a story involving his ex-wife, Sherrie Miller, when he was a guest on ESPN Radio’s “The Dan Le Batard Show” in 2016. He said (via Golfweek):

“I won like $55,000 in the casino and I said (to Sherrie), if you’re going to yell and scream at me about this, I threw it over the bridge going over to Memphis from Arkansas. I threw all the money out the (car) window and said, ‘You know what, if you want that money, you can go find it. But let me tell you something, you don’t have a job. You’re not working. I’m supporting you, I’m paying all the bills.’ My buddy (then) took her to a McDonald’s drive-thru and got her two cheeseburgers and some french fries and a soda, and (it was like), ‘OK, this is how you can live from now on if that’s the way you want it.’”

Sherrie Miller detailed the same incident in her book titled ‘Teed Off: My Life as a Player’s Wife on the PGA Tour’ which was released in 2011. In the text, Miller claimed that she did go back to the bridge and gathered up most of the $55,000 that was tossed out of the car by Daly.

John Daly was once arrested outside a Hooters restaurant for an alcohol-related incident
John Daly has been candid and open about his struggles with his vices and was reportedly hospitalized multiple times due to alcohol poisoning.

The PGA Tour star has allegedly had a few public instances with regard to his drinking issues. John Daly was taken into custody by Winston Salem police after reportedly being found blacked out drunk in front of a Hooters restaurant. Daly was allegedly found lying down on the pavement outside of the restaurant.

Cops were reportedly called after he failed to comply with the employees and their requests for him to vacate the premises. Soon after the police detained him, he was treated by the paramedics for alcohol toxicity.

According to the Winston Salem police report, John Daly was “extremely intoxicated and uncooperative”. He was released after spending 24 hours at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center.

Daly also reportedly put himself into a rehab facility twice after running into trouble with law enforcement.
