First six members of the 2024 U.S. Presidents Cup team explored ft. Wyndham Clark

After the conclusion of the 2024 BMW Championship, the top six players in the US PGA Tour rankings have automatically secured their spots for the upcoming Presidents Cup.

This prestigious team golf event, taking place next month, will feature two teams—USA and International—each comprising 12 players.

Wyndham Clark

The six players from each team who qualified based on their ranking points have earned their spots, while the remaining players will be chosen by the captain. The US team’s automatic qualifiers are revealed, and the remaining six captain’s picks will be announced on Tuesday, September 3.

With the BMW Championship complete, the US team’s automatic qualifiers for the Presidents Cup are Scottie Scheffler, who topped the US team ranking list, along with Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala.

#1 Scottie Scheffler

With six phenomenal victories on the PGA Tour in 2024, Scottie Scheffler topped the US team Presidents Cup ranking with 13,711 points and earned a spot in the team event. He had an incredible season, starting the year with a T5 finish at The Sentry and maintaining momentum throughout the season.

Scheffler recorded 15 top-10 finishes out of the 18 tournaments he played this season. His worst performance was at the US Open, where he tied for 41st place. In addition to his six regular tournament victories, Scheffler also won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

#2 Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele also enjoyed a stellar season in 2024. He won two major events, including the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. He did not miss any cuts and had 14 finishes in the top 14 out of the 20 events he played.

Schauffele was the runner-up in three events. With 9,674 points, he secured second place in the Presidents Cup standings and qualified for the event.

#3 Collin Morikawa

With 6,084 points, Collin Morikawa secured the third spot in the team ranking and will compete in the Presidents Cup next month. Morikawa had a solid season in 2024, though he did not win an event. He had one runner-up finish and seven top-10 finishes. He played in 20 events and made the cut in 18 of them.

#4 Wyndham Clark

Wyndham Clark won one event, was the runner-up in two, and recorded seven top-10 finishes, securing the fourth spot in the US Presidents Cup team ranking. He played in 19 tournaments in 2024 but missed the cut in five of them.

#5 Patrick Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay also qualified for the Presidents Cup, finishing fifth in the ranking with 4,866 points. He played in 18 events this season, with four top-10 finishes. Cantlay missed only one cut this season and has been remarkable with his game.

#6 Sahith Theegala

Sahith Theegala secured a spot in the US team for the Presidents Cup as well. Having played in 23 events in 2024, Theegala was the runner-up in two and had seven top-10 finishes. However, he missed the cut in four tournaments. He secured the sixth spot in the team ranking with 4,566 points.
