Fans on social media have reacted to the possibility of a delay in the opening round of the 2024 Wyndham Championship. According to the weather report, there is a high chance of rainfall on Thursday, August 8, which would likely cause a delay in play due to bad weather.
In light of the poor weather prediction, officials have canceled the entry of fans to the venue. As per Nuclr Golf on X, no fans will be allowed to attend the first round of the 2024 Wyndham Championship because of the rain forecast.
Nuclr Golf shared the news on its X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:
“#NO ENTRY — The Wyndham Championship has announced that fans will not be permitted to attend tomorrow’s first round with up to 5 inches of rain in the forecast for the Greensboro area.”

Fans in the comments section expressed their disappointment with the possibility of the play getting delayed.
“That sucks,” a fan wrote.
Meanwhile, some fans stated that if it were LIV Golf, they would never have delayed it.
“Wow LIV would never,” another fan commented.
“LIV would have hired state of the art reverse cloud seeding planes, equipped with the latest technology to thwart the weather, the PGA Tour is pathetic compared to LIV golf,” a fan jotted.
Another fan called it a smart move not to allow spectators entry to the venue, as bad weather might affect the play.
“Smart. Probably not too many playing tomorrow,” another fan wrote.

When will the players tee off for the 2024 Wyndham Championship?
The 2024 Wyndham Championship’s first round will start at 6:50 a.m. ET on Thursday, August 8. Play will start on the first and tenth tees at the same time. Players will tee off in groups of three.
Justin Suh, Ben Kohles, and Tyson Alexander will take their first shot on the first tee, while Maverick McNealy, David Lipsky, and Ryo Hisatsune will start their game on the tenth hole.
It’s a four-day event with a cutline after 36 holes and will conclude with the finale on Sunday, August 11, at Sedgefield Country Club. However, there is a high possibility of play being delayed on Thursday for the initial round.
According to The Weather Network, on Thursday, August 8, there is a chance of rainfall in the morning. The temperature in the morning will be around 22°C with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Moreover, there is a decent chance of rainfall in the afternoon and evening as well.
Additionally, the second round of the Wyndham Championship might also be affected by poor weather. As per the forecast, there is a 100 percent chance of precipitation in the morning and afternoon, while the evening will reportedly have clear weather. There is also a minimal chance of rainfall over the weekend.
