The third round of the men’s individual golf strokeplay at the 2024 Paris Olympics saw Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy put up an incredible show. As the event heads into the final round, both the PGA Tour stars are battling it out to finish at the top of the podium.

With over 30 thousand fans from all over the world present at the Le Golf National course this week, players have been grateful for all the support, which has pushed them to perform better. World number one golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was overwhelmed by the number of spectators present. Here’s what the American had to say to the Olympic media:

” I think the only big surprise was the crowds. I didn’t really know what to expect from them but the crowds have been really nice this week. It’s been a lot of fun playing in front of them. ”

After a mediocre start, Rory McIlroy has significantly climbed up on the leaderboard to become the fan favourite. Eager to earn his nation its maiden medal in the sport, here’s what the four-time Major championship winner had to say about the support at the Le Golf National course, which is located on the outskirts of Paris:

” It has the feel of a big-time event for sure. It’s a really nice environment to play in. I feel French this week, the amount of “Alle Rorys” I’ve had out there. It’s been really cool. ”
Where do Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy stand on the 2024 Paris Olympics leaderboard?
Both Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are in contention for a medal following the third round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The PGA Tour stars are tied for sixth place with a 54-hole score of ten under par 203. They share the place with South Korea’s Tom Kim.

Following rounds of four under par 67 and two under par 69, Scheffler replicated his first round on the third day. The world number one golfer carded in three birdies and one bogey on the par 36 front nine, and three birdies and one bogey on the par 35 back nine.

McIlroy impressed the crowd with a commendable five-under-par 66 score. He went into the penultimate round tied for 13th place and has since climbed up seven spots in his second start as an Olympian.

Both Scheffler and McIlroy are sure to finish strong in the final round on Sunday, in a tight race for a place on the prestigious podium.
