With the third round of the men’s individual stroke play event at the 2024 Paris Olympics concluded, Scottie Scheffler is eager to secure the gold medal.

The leaderboard remains incredibly tight, with the top ten players separated from each other by just one or two strokes.

After carding in rounds of four under par 67 and two under par 69, the world number one golfer emulated his first round on the penultimate day of competition. Scheffler currently sits tied for sixth place with Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, South Korea’s Tom Kim, and Belgium’s Thomas Detry, who are all tied at ten under par for the tournament.

Having recorded six wins this year, Scheffler has had an amazing season on the PGA Tour so far. However, the American doesn’t feel like he has performed up to his full potential over the last three days in Paris. Here’s what the 2024 Augusta Masters winner had to say to Golf Week USA regarding his performance:

“I’d like to be leading. I feel like I haven’t had my best stuff the last few days but I’ve done enough to hang in there and stay in the tournament.”
Nicolai Hojgaard’s impressive third round, a course-record-tying 62, has inspired the 12-time PGA Tour winner Scottie Scheffler. The American acknowledged that he’ll need a similarly stellar performance to clinch gold for the USA. He said,

“Around this course, you can get hot. You saw Nicolai [Hojgaard] had a really nice round today, and I’m going to need something like that tomorrow if I’m going to be holding a medal.”
