The 2024 Wyndham Championship is the next big event on the PGA Tour. This event will take place at the Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina. The tournament will begin on August 8 and conclude on August 11.

Like last year, this edition of the tournament will also feature some of the biggest names in golf. In this article, we will look at five players to whom fans must pay special attention at the 2024 Wyndham Championship:

#5 Luke Clanton

After facing the setback of finishing second at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship with Florida State, Luke Clanton reinvented himself to find success on the PGA Tour. Clanton made his PGA Tour debut at the 2024 US Open and made the cut as he went on to finish T41 at the event.

Clanton further bettered his performances by finishing T10 and T2 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and John Deere Classic, respectively. While he is still very young in his career, Clanton has the ability to cause a major upset at the 2024 Wyndham Championship.

#4 Lucas Glover

The 2024 Wyndham Championship is no ordinary tournament for Lucas Glover. At the event, Glover will be the defending champion. After beating An Byeong-hun and Russell Henley last year, Glover will look to replicate the same performance this time around.

However, heading into the tournament, Glover has not been experiencing the best of form. He missed making the cut in two consecutive events. But, since he has won the tournament previously, Glover will have an advantage while playing at the Sedgefield Country Club.

#3 Sungjae Im

After missing the cut at the 2024 US Open, Sungjae Im has performed well in consecutive events. While he has not been able to register a win on the PGA Tour since 2021, Sungjae Im finished T3 at the Travelers Championship, T12 at the John Deere Classic, T4 at the Genesis Scottish Open, and T7 at The Open.

These good performances against some of the best players in the sport make Sungjae Im a favorite to claim victory at the 2024 Wyndham Championship. It will be interesting to see what he does at the Sedgefield Country Club.

#2 Cameron Young

American Cameron Young will be another player to watch out for at the 2024 Wyndham Championship. Since making his debut on the PGA Tour, Young has yet to win an event. A series of good performances at the Travelers Championship and Rocket Mortgage Classic will help Young a big deal.

Another positive for the 27-year-old is finishing T31 at The Open Championship. Even though it’s not a top-20 finish, it’s enough to give him the much-needed momentum since he was up against some of the best and played at the challenging Royal Troon Golf Club.

#1 Shane Lowry

Fresh off the Olympics, Shane Lowry will be one of the most-watched players at the 2024 Wyndham Championship. Having finished 26th at the Games in Paris, Lowry will look to do even better at the Wyndham Championship. Another motivating factor would be the fact he has yet to win an event this season.

The closest he came to winning this year was at the Arnold Palmer Invitational pres. by Mastercard where he finished third. Lowry also did well at The Open Championship as he ended up finishing in sixth place.
